Q&A

Q: You only have one record out. Isn’t a whole website for just one record and a handful of zines a bit much?
A: Yes. You’re right. Sure, it is. But that won’t stop me from having some fun with it, will it? Also: the goal is to release a lot more things in the future, and why not try to do things right, right from the start?

Q: How can I contribute to Candy Twist fanzine?
A: Just get in touch through info at candytwistfanzine dot com and let me know how you’d like to be involved.

Q: Can I offer my services as an illustrator for Candy Twist Records?
A: I’ll gladly hear/see what you can do, so yes: offers are always welcome. Releases will be pretty rare though, so don’t count on any work just yet.

Q: How can I end up on one of your compilation LPs?
A: Your best chance is that I already like you and ask you personally. But you can always send a link to your music with a friendly note, and I’ll give your band a listen. Please don’t be offended if I can’t include you. There’s thousands of bands and only a tiny bit of space on my compilations.

Q: Can I give you some of my money?
A: Why yes, please do! We can use all the support we can get. You can use the Paypal button to donate whatever you can miss. Thanks!

Q: Do you sign contracts with the bands on Candy Twist?
A: It depends a bit on the band. Basic rules for compilations: the band pays for everything involved with the recording, Candy Twist pays for everything involved with the release, including promotion. Bands don’t get paid, all possible profit goes to future releases. Basic rules for 7-inches: the band pays for everything involved with the recording, Candy Twist pays for everything involved with the releases, including promotion. After all costs of the release have been covered by sales, all profit will be split 50/50 between the band and Candy Twist.

Q: I don’t live in the Netherlands. Can I still buy your records?
A: Yes, of course. Just pick your country in the drop down menu in the shop, and everything will be ok.

Q: Why do I pay almost as much, or even more, for shipping as for my actual order?
A: International shipping prices are crazy, and beyond our control. We can’t afford to pay shipping for you, so it’s always added to the price of your order. Candy Twist is working hard to find distros all over the world to sell our goods.

Q: How do you calculate shipping costs?
A: We use PostNL for shipping. You can check their international rates here (check page 5 and 6): http://www.postnl.nl/zakelijk/Images/PostNL-Rates-2013_tcm210-663394.pdf

Q: Where can I get hi-res photos, album covers, and other digital promotional tools?
A: Write us, and we’ll provide a press kit if we have one.

Q: So… Who are you?
A: Hello! I’m Dennis, born in 1978 in Haarlem, the Netherlands. If you’d like to know more, email me and I’ll answer all your questions.

Q: I would like to play music released by Candy Twist on my radio station. Who do I contact?
A: Please contact the bands directly. I’d love to be informed as well, but it’s the band who owns the copyright.

Q: I would like to play music released by Candy Twist in my movie, documentary or TV-show. Who do I contact?
A: Please contact the bands directly. I’d love to be informed as well, but it’s the band who owns the copyright.

Q: I would like to post MP3s of music released by Candy Twist on my website. Can I?
A: Please only use MP3s that have been made available by Candy Twist or the band involved. Never post full releases for downloading.

Q: What is your demo tape policy?
A: We’ll gladly listen to your music, but it’s highly unlikely that we’ll actually release it. See the Contact-section for a bit more on this.

Q: Do you organize shows in the Netherlands, or do you know anyone who does?
A: No, not really, sorry. I can try to get you in touch with people who may know more, but I can’t make promises!
